Community Involvement
As a long term member of the South West Edmonton community, Dr. Palmer actively participates by serving not only in the dental community but also his local community. He enjoys coaching his children’s basketball teams and also serves in his church. Within the dental community, Dr. Palmer has recently served as the Chair of the 2011 Northwest Dental Exposition and is currently the President Elect of the Edmonton and District Dental Society. He is also involved with the ITI study club which is a internationally recognized and locally run dental implant study group. He has also been the Director of Undergraduate Orthodontics at the University of Alberta Dental School and a clinical associate professor in the Graduate Orthodontics Program. Beyond orthodontics, Dr. Palmers favorite thing to do is to spend a day at the beach with his wife and children. He also enjoys skiing, golf, basketball, and hockey. Having lived in France for 2 years, he also has a particular interest in the French language and culture.
Dr. Palmer is pleased to host an annual fundraiser on behalf of the Edmonton and area dental community. The Palmer Orthodontics Halloween Spooktacular raises funds to support The Boyle McCauley Dental Health Center in Edmonton’s Inner City. Dr. Palmer, in cooperation with other local Southwest Edmonton denstist, has participated in Adopt An African Clinic. This organization provides care, equipment, and education to dental clinics in Rwanda and East Africa.
